Club News in brief............
The clubs next social event is Saturday the 16th of November 2013 at the Maya Indian restaurant at Poulton Le Fylde.
We were last at this venue over a year ago for a lovely Indian feast before walking into the square at Poulton for a few drinks.
If you want to book a place, please contact Kev Berry to confirm your reservation.
Sensei John Kobierowski visited Blackpool and Wyre Karate Ryu recently, where he took club Karateka through a thorough warm up before embarking on Kihon involving stepping techniques.
The session then went onto Kata which included Heian Shodan being performed in a straight line, which was then undertaken in reverse and subsequently back to front.
The was followed by the last part of the session concentrating on Kumite, where legs sweeps and throws were studied and executed in controlled conditions to prevent injury and to allow a good understanding of the techniques involved.
The club would like to thank Sensei Kobierowski for coming to the club and placing a different angle of approach to our art.
The club recently held its Kyu grade examination night, which can only be best described as a tough test of Karateka moving onto their next grades.
All Kyu grades were successful in passing their examination under stringent examination conditions, which proves that there are no short cuts to be had in Karate.
The club would like to thank all the Dan grades for their time and effort invested in bringing the Kyu grades up to the standard required for a successful IJKA grading.
Well done to all those who passed as you deserve it from the commitment you all displayed on the evening.
